Alan is a seasoned entrepreneur with a career spanning over 25 years. He has held senior roles in banking, private equity, and investment management. Most recently, he was the co-founder and CEO of Empower Group Holdings, with investments in property, financial services, mining, and ICT, both locally and internationally, giving him extensive experience across the African continent.

He has over the last decade successfully divested from these investments and manages a strategic family investment in a JSE listed company and in 2ND Avenue Capital.

Alan’s banking experience at Firstrand included monitoring and pricing interest rates for the liability book and as a structured lending specialist.

His corporate governance experience has seen him hold non-executive director positions on both listed and unlisted boards.

Alan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of KwaZulu Natal.
